Sponsor signup sheets are available from representatives in the worship centers below. Walkers are urged to set a personal goal to raise for hunger relief, perhaps $100.00, although every bit counts. Do your best to get donations before the walk. The walk is five miles: north along South Manheim Blvd., down Main St., north along the rail trail to the bridge over the Wallkill River, then back to the registration center. Bring a brown bag lunch to the registration area at 1:00 PM to share the time with other walkers if you can. There are enormous hunger needs in our world, and CROP and other agencies are seeking to help. Sponsors can designate their choice of compassionate agency. A fourth of the income is used locally by FAMILY OF NEW PALTZ to help with local hunger needs. Come and make a difference in someone's life. The director is Adriana Havnaer at 256-0332.
At 1:00PM on the last Sunday of each month a community dinner is served by local churches. The dinners provide an opportunity for fellowship and the occasion to make new friends. Donations are received to cover the expense of the meal, but no one is excluded who is unable to make a contribution. The schedule is as follows: February, March and April at the Reformed Church; May a picnic at Moriello Park/Pool; June, July, and August at St. Joseph's Church; September at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church at 2:00PM; October, November, December and January at the Methodist Church. In November and December the dinners are on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day instead of the last Sunday of the month. Thanksgiving may be best expressed by reaching out to include others in your friendship on these holidays.
The New Paltz Christian Churches provide a weekly service to residents at the Mountain View Nursing Centre. It is held on Wednesday afternoons at 2:00 PM. The churches also provide a service to the residents at the Culinarian Adult Home on the second Tuesday of each month at 11:00 AM.
